RUTH CHAREST SURNAME COLLECTION

Ruth Charest was an avid genealogy researcher of
French Canadian families of the northern states. Her seven file
cabinets of ‘Surname Collection’ were donated to the Canadian Interest
Group (CIG) of the Minnesota Genealogical Society (MGS). Some collections contain one sheet of paper and
others are multiply files. We have found family group sheets, pictures,
original correspondence, and transcribed church records in some files. See the Surname Collection list!
Some information from the Surname Collection has already been recorded in CIG’s genealogy database located at http://www.mncig.org/tng/
This database was started in 2006 from research information of original
CIG members and is used today to preserve Ruth forty plus years of
research.
Ruth Charest Surname Files are available on Canadian Saturdays [third Saturday of month from 10 to 1] or by appointment.
